Fingerprint TopSec Module B.x family connected via LAN

TopSec LAN (TCP/IP) interfacing

The TopSec fingerprint modules are connected to LAN by using standard LAN modules – LAN to TTL or LAN to RS232 converters. The special HW and SW integration of the LAN converters is used to send and receive TopSecs command protocol for all fingerprint download and upload.

Functional description

General operation

The TopSec Fingerprint B.x modules are able to connect and communciate via LAN network by commercially availlable TCP/IP TTL converters and their included Software support. The power supply pins and UART pins of the TopSec modules have to be connected to the appropriate PINs of the converters and the TCP/IP communication SW driver has to be installed and setup or plugged into the final SW application.

In such a mode all TopSec commands like Enrole, Identify, Deletion, Download and Upload or Single Extraction can be directly sent from every SW application to networked TopSec ID B.x modules.

Adjustment of network configuration

Possible operational modes

„Match On device“

In the „Match On Device“ mode the complete finger archive is stored in the TopSec B.x FingerPrint module and the UserID is reported in case of Match Success to the server – the PC/Server decides about further switching of relais and sends commands to networked activator units like relais or other controlling units.

„Match On Server“

In the Match On Server mode the TopSec fingerprint module only extracts the finger data from raw image and the final match through the finger archive is executed on the PC/Server followed by further activities. As Matching function the BREAL Matching Library is used on server side, which compares the actual Bio-Template with all stored finger templates.

As enrolement devices TopSec Fingerprint devices can be used connected over USB or local networked TopSec B.x modules.

The XT-Nano TCP/IP module family of AK-Nord communicates and supplies power into the TopSec modules over POE or external power supply and provides onboard relais interfaces or other programmable input /output controls. The SW driver and Redirector Services for the TCP/IP to serial conversion must be installed before. Refer to AK Nord Support unter http://www.ak-nord.de.

The TopSec ID Module SDK with their integrated protocol DLL, the Software Servicetool and the Demotool are able to communicate over a virtual COM interface.

The TopSec family can also be integrated in RS485/RS422 networks – refer to RS485/RS422-TTL converters under www.commfront.com/TTL-RS232-RS485-serial-converters/RS485-TTL-converter.html
